How to Install an eSIM

Scan the QR code and activate your eSIM in one minute. It’s easy for everyone.

After your purchase, your MinoSim eSIM QR code and installation details will be sent to your email.

We recommend installing your eSIM before travel while connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. For most MinoSim plans, your data plan will not start until your device connects to a supported network at your destination.

Method 1: Scan the QR Code

  1. Open your MinoSim email on another phone, tablet, or computer.
  2. On the phone where you want to install the eSIM, open the camera and scan the QR code.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  1. Tap Activate. This will not start your data plan.
  2. Then select Abroad.
  3. When asked to choose a label, select Secondary or rename it to MinoSim.
  4. Under Default Line, keep your primary phone number selected.
  5. Under iMessage & FaceTime, keep your primary phone number selected.
  6. Under Cellular Data, select MinoSim.
  7. Tap Done to complete the setup.

For iPhone Users - You may also Press and hold the Add eSIM Button

  1. Open your MinoSim email on the iPhone where you want to install the eSIM.
  2. Press and hold the QR code in the email.
  3. Tap Add eSIM.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Method 2: For iPhone Users

  1. Click the Install on iPhone button in the email.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  3. Tap Activate. This will not start your data plan.
  4. Then select Abroad.
  5. When asked to choose a label, select Secondary or rename it to MinoSim.
  6. Under Default Line, keep your primary phone number selected.
  7. Under iMessage & FaceTime, keep your primary phone number selected.
  8. Under Cellular Data, select MinoSim.
  9. Tap Done to complete the setup.

Method 3: Install Manually

If the QR code or button does not work, you can install the eSIM manually using the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code included in your MinoSim email.

Manual Installation on iPhone

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Cellular or Mobile Service.
  3. Tap Add eSIM.
  4. Tap Use QR Code.
  5. Tap Enter Details Manually.
  6. Enter the SM-DP+ Address from your MinoSim email.
  7. Enter the Activation Code from your MinoSim email.
  8. If there is a Confirmation Code field and your email does not include one, leave it blank.
  9. Tap Next, then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Manual Installation on Android

Android settings may look slightly different depending on your phone brand and Android version.

  1. Open Settings on your Android phone.
  2. Go to Network & Internet, Connections, or SIMs.
  3. Tap Add SIM, Add eSIM, or Download a SIM instead?.
  4. Choose the option to scan a QR code.
  5. If you cannot scan the QR code, tap Enter code manually or Need help?.
  6. Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from your MinoSim email.
  7. If you see a Confirmation Code field, leave it blank unless your MinoSim email includes one.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the eSIM.
  9. After installation, label the eSIM as MinoSim if your phone allows it.
  10. Set your regular SIM as the default for calls and SMS, if you want to keep using your original phone number.
  11. Set MinoSim as the SIM for mobile data when you are ready to use it.

Before Using MinoSim Abroad

  1. Make sure Data Roaming is enabled for MinoSim.
  2. When you arrive at your destination, select MinoSim for cellular data or mobile data.
  3. If the eSIM does not connect right away, turn airplane mode on and off, then restart your phone.
